How SparkStories helps, and what it isn't
A short, plain-language note so you know exactly what you're using. We'd rather be clear than impressive.

A learning tool, not medical care
SparkStories is an educational and practice tool for families. It is not a medical device, and it does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent autism or any other condition. It is not therapy, and it is not a substitute for assessment, advice, or care from a qualified professional, such as a physician, speech-language pathologist, behaviour analyst, occupational therapist, or special educator. Always seek the guidance of a qualified professional for any question about your child's health or development.
Every child is different, so we don't promise outcomes
We designed SparkStories around well-established teaching methods, and we believe in it. But we don't promise any particular educational, behavioural, or developmental result. Children learn at their own pace and in their own way, and outcomes naturally vary from one child to the next.
About the research we mention
The studies referenced on this website describe the broader evidence base for the methods SparkStories is built on, such as social stories, joint attention, and parent-led practice. They are shared as background, so you can see the thinking behind the design. They are not a claim that SparkStories itself has been independently tested or proven to produce those results.
Best used together, with a grown-up
SparkStories is made to be used by a child together with a parent or caregiver, not handed over for solo use. A responsible adult should set it up, stay nearby, choose the pace, and keep an eye on the stories and the answers, so anything that doesn't look right can be paused and talked through. Children get the most from SparkStories, and stay safest, with a grown-up alongside, and that matters most for younger children and the Foundations activities.
