The terms, in plain language
These are the terms for using SparkStories. We've kept them readable on purpose. By using the app, you're agreeing to them.

Agreeing to these terms
By downloading, subscribing to, or using SparkStories, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, which are part of these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. You should be an adult (a parent or guardian) to set up and manage an account.
What SparkStories is
SparkStories is a subscription educational and practice tool for families. As explained in our Disclaimer, it is not medical care, not therapy, and not a substitute for a qualified professional, and we don't promise any particular result.
Subscriptions and billing
SparkStories is offered as a paid subscription. When you subscribe through the Apple App Store or Google Play, billing, renewals, and refunds are handled by that store under its own rules. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel, and you can manage or cancel any time in your store account settings. Prices may change, and we'll give notice where the law requires it.
Using it the right way
SparkStories is for your personal, family, non-commercial use. Please don't copy, resell, reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the app or its content, or use it in any unlawful way. We may suspend access that is misused or that puts the service or other families at risk.
Adult supervision
SparkStories is intended to be used by a child under the active supervision of a parent or guardian, and it is not designed for unsupervised use by a child. You are responsible for supervising your child's use, setting suitable limits, and reviewing the stories, questions, and answers your child sees, so anything that doesn't look right can be paused and talked through. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for any use of the app without appropriate adult supervision.
Your content and your photos
You're responsible for the names, photos, and other content you add, and you confirm you have the right to use them. As described in the Privacy Policy, photos and recordings for the Foundations activities stay on your device and are not uploaded to us.
Provided "as is"
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SparkStories is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet any particular need.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SparkStories and the people behind it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of your use of, or inability to use, or reliance on the app or its content. To the extent we are ever found liable, our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you, and nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
No reliance for important decisions
You agree not to rely on SparkStories as a substitute for professional advice, assessment, diagnosis, or treatment, and not to make medical, educational, or similar decisions based on the app alone. For those, talk to a qualified professional.
You cover misuse
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to cover us for claims, losses, or costs that arise from your misuse of the app, your breach of these terms, or content you added.
Changes to the app and these terms
We're always improving SparkStories, so features may change, be added, or be retired. We may also update these terms; if we do, we'll change the date above and flag anything significant. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Which laws apply
These terms are governed by, and read in line with, the laws applicable to you, and they apply to the fullest extent those laws allow. Nothing in them takes away the mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect, and that part is applied as closely as possible to its original intent.
Anything unclear? Email contact@sparkstories.app and we'll explain it in plain words. These terms work together with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer.
